It's hard to believe that this is week #5 already! I am pleased to welcome many new students into our class. We now have 28 students. With that many students, we have had the Talking Bug hit and have missed recess a few times because we are too busy talking and not enough paying attention. We have also read about how to fill a person's "bucket."
We have been doing well with our new reading series, Reading Street. It has so much more to it than our previous reading program the past 2 years. I sent home a welcome letter with directions on how you can access the online activities for our reading program at www.pearsonsuccessnet.com --I hope you will check on it weekly. Students are able to read the story and have access to all of the short clips we watch in class.
In math, we are ready for our 2nd Cumulative test this week. We have been working on Addition and Subtraction, time to the quarter hour, temperature, and estimating. Students need to pay close attention to the tests and make sure they are answering the questions that are asked.
In writing, we have been working on hand and arm muscles so that we can write more and write quicker. We have focused on writing Thank You letters. We are making progress.
Tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday we will take our Fall NWEA tests on the computer. This will help me get a good idea of where we are all at and what we need to focus on the most.
